We have camped for awhile now with popup campers and are new to backing in our 32 ft camper. The staff assured us over the phone they woulld be happy to help or back it in for us. We arrive at the gate to be given a look like "ya right buddy" and said maybe they could find someone but didnt tell us who/where to look. Not so helpful we were off to find out site. The roads are awful, giant rocks/holes seriously? we paid more than our usual campground rate for this place?! Ugh. Ran into the lady who booked our site watching us struggle to back our camper nobody offered to back it in for us as promised. So we started very frusterated here is the rest of my complaints: -Picnic table isnt more than a foot from of our neighbor's sewer hose- nasty -Firepit was broken made out of a half circle of bricks -Wood you buy there was too green to start a fire- ripoff -Pool was cheesy small and not very clean -Free boats- are mostly broken and the pond is like a swamp w/ mosquito problem -My kids can hear the neighbors intimacy because our camper is that close- akward -Seasonal people were mostly rude and i felt like i was interrupting them when we went and had deck breakfast which you pay for! - Arcade games are mostly broken - store is very small with barely anything you might need -NO cell phone service/ camp wifi was broken! - This lady supposedly part owner with a clipboard/golf cart will search for something to complain about the way you're doing something, kids in a boat or too loud she will say something to someone while you are there she's annoying and intimidating her guests. People cringe when they see her coming. - Their "kiddy train" broke down and the guy driving didnt notice he left 6 kids behind on the dirt path while he was being entrusted the care of other people's kids. We had to yell to him he left the kids behind as he zipped off up the trail?! Idiot. - roads are all dirt and sand so you have to sweep/vacuum throughout the day to keep up with mss - strollers are impossible at this park! you cant get up to the rec hall or down the road without 2 people pushing/pulling out of potholes. - the road in is too narrow and you have to pull your camper off the road if people are coming the other way? very poor planning and scary if you are new at this. Plus - nice fenced dog park - ice cream sundaes are good/cheap Unimpressive, dirty, disappointing dont take your kids here for sure!

This is a fantastic location for exploring the area. Bonus; friendly and helpful staff who organize many fun activities, Horseshoes, a pool, a concession stand with a pool table and other games, pancake breakfasts, and a quiet and picturesque setting to return to after a long day of being a tourist. I had no complaints. It's camping folks so don't go expecting a five star hotel experience! Maybe I'm a little old school but I expect to rough it a little when I camp. If you're self-contained the public restrooms aren't an issue. I have a feeling that the new owners - who are young go-getters - are going to really spruce this place up!

Beautiful camp ground. I stayed here in July 2013 and loved every second of it. The camp ground is under a recent new ownership and has made dramatic improvements at the site. There are several amenities and activities to do for all ages. It's great place to camp or pull up your RV in a secluded area in the natural beauty of Rhode Island with the convenience of a short car ride to the cities of Newport and Providence. I also took a kayaking trip in the river down the road from the site and it had amazing scenery. The town around the campsite is very friendly and quaint. Overall, the campground is a great place to stay with lots of activities in the immediate area. I ran out of time to do everything I want to do, so I plan on coming back soon.

This place is horrible. *The roads are rocky and sand *to get your RV in is difficult *staff are the most unpleasant people *the campsites are tiny our site was big enough for the picnic table wich was near *the rv's next to us sewer hook up. *Game room most games were broken *There boats the look so nice online but none worked *the WIFI they have dosent work i went to the store to buy something and asked was brushed off like we will look into it. *we had full hook up but while walking around I used the bathroom BIG mistake it was nasty *they have a train for th kids it fell apart and guy took off not even realizing he left them behind *pond is barley a pond. it is more of a swamp In order to fit in this place you need a members only jacket because they cater more to the seasonal campers (at least i am assuming). The guy at the gate was angry like he wanted everything but to be there. When i went to go check in i had to wait 25 minutes so the can do a shift change. To back in the camper was very difficult since i only had small amount of space. This was the first and last place we ever come here. This is the most expensive campsite in RI but has the feeling of a cheap Motel.

I don't even know where to begin with this review..OK..I do... YIKES!!!! I was so excited to stay here..I was going to Newport, Rhode Island for the weekend and thought I'd stay nearby at a local campground. After doing some searching and getting some so-so reviews on this place. I thought I'd give it a whirl. I called made the reservations..No problem. Very reasonable rates..great..We're in...Packed up the travel trailer headed out for my big weekend away in May for Newport! YAY! We left early on a Friday afternoon pull into the camground,..hey, looks ok..great! We get our map she tells us our site and waahla..we're off to our site.."35"...Perfect..a water, sewer and electric..YAHOO..no draining sewer when we leave! YES! OK..first nightmare..this place to maneuver is ridiculous..the map they give you doesn't even match the streets. Finally! YES! we find our site "35" OK..trying to back in is like trying to back in a travel trailer into your bedroom. These sites are by far the worst sites I have ever seen! The site I had was on a hill that was on tree stumps! Try getting your travel trailer over that on a hill..yeah NOT going to happen! After spinning our tires for a few. We had a very nice seasonal site guy come over and move our camper for us. (Hey..we're three women here..camping..so what if he helped!) OK..so we're in..OK..we get all the sewer stuff out..Wait a minute..where's the sewer hook ups?? AH...call he front desk.."hello?..ahm, there's no sewer hooks up..?..ahm..you're at the wrong site..you're suppose to be right next to it at "35"A"..OMG..are you kidding me? Now why wouldn't they warn you of this before you get there??? It literally took us an hour to back into this spot that was so tight..I was not moving. AND..this other spot was so tiny..I was NOT moving! Not only that..the other site was littered with a broken fence and hadn't even been cleaned in it looked like months!!!!! We finally hooked up our camper. Our site was littered with garbage including mittens..so obviously our site hadn't been touched in months with a rake. It was now May and there were mittens on our site. This should tell you that the sites do NOT get cleaned. There is a pond with "free" boats. Its actually a swamp..It's perfect for catching frogs and getting eaten alive by mosquitoes..sounds fun. They also have a mini golf course..Ahm..in need of some serious repair.. The bathrooms..OH..the bathrooms..where do I start...Let's see..Now, I've camped in 100's and I mean 100's of campgrounds. This has got to be..BY FAR..the worst bathrooms I have ever seen in my entire life..The floors are absolutely filthy They have an automatic outdoor light attached to the indoor ceiling..so when you go in it goes on for a second..so it turns on and off every second..it's absolutely aggravating. The stalls are so filthy..The showers are hung on by one screw that is half way out of the wall with smashed tiles everywhere..I can't even tell you the cobwebs and filth in this place..OH..and the best part..You couldn't even use the one of two showers in here because it had a huge frog on the shower curtain because the place is just disgusting. It's dark, dingy and dirty. I have never EVER seen a bathroom this filthy in my life. I don't think the owners of this place could care less of this entire campground. The place is in desperate need of care..The ENTIRE place. The only good thing I can say of the place is the seasonal campers here are so kind it actually made you want to go back just to hang out with them. They were amazing! They helped us with so many things. They helped us set up, made us a fire, helped us hook our campfire back up and then I got a flat tire and they even said they would wait for AAA why we were site seeing..NOW where would you find campers like that..I'd like to take all those campers..and take them to ANOTHER campground..they were amazing!!!!!! If this campground was smart..they would clean up their act..it's actually a really cute place!!! It wouldn't take that much money! It's in an amazing area!!!!!!

Best campground I have been to ever. People who work here are so nice, and so accomodating. We are a forty something and fifty something escaping for the weekend with our motorcycles and a small camper. We are so impressed with this place. Spacious campsite. Not loud but plenty of activities of that is your thing. Looks perfect for families. Great pub down the road, too, the Wood River Inn! Good food, music and craft beer.

Great place for families. Lots of entertainment, but still remote from freeways & city bustle. The only downside is the sites are very close together & the bathrooms / showers are not well kept....but it's camping so... Good price for value.

This campground is hands down the best in Rhode Island. We are seasonal campers here and look forward coming more and more each year. Here's why . . . The owners, Cameron and Justin, go out of their way to meet each and every person that steps on to their property. They become truly engaged with your needs and genuinely want to help make your stay endurable and memorable. It gets better . . . They have consistently made improvements on the property for the last two years and have even more plans in the works this very moment. They have a pool, miniature golf, soccer field, basketball court, horseshoe pits, arcade, snack shack, paddle boats, canoes and more! So, when looking for a campground, keep in mind this is a great place to bring your family and build memories.

We had a great 4th of July camping experience. So many different activities for the children and adults. Bathrooms were clean and staff was wicked friendly.

Spent Memorial Weekend here, first visit. Agree with others that roads need to be widened, I know they want trees but they make for a scary ride in and out. But the staff and other campers do make up for that, super friendly, everyone. And the activities were inviting, and everyone seemed to come for them. Liked that they had fundraisers for local organizations, that is a classy touch.

I wrote about this campsite a couple months ago. Since then, they have made some MAJOR improvements that I felt a need to update my yelp review. We stayed the long July 4th weekend (during a huge rainstorm from hurricane Arthur). Even though the first night was miserable and wet from the rain-- Whispering Pines made up for it with all their fun-filled activities! It started off with a DJ'd dance party Friday night. Then the next day we attended crafts in the morning (my son made a beautiful sparkly fireworks banner for the parade later that night), sack races, horse races, egg races, duck racing(all proceeds going to Alzeimer's research), frog racing, tie dye shirt making, a parade around the campground, barrel rides, and then to end the night with a live band and a hula hoop, fire spitting act! This was the first night EVER that I let my 5-year-old son stay up til 9:30 to enjoy this amazing night. Now to address a con that I had during my stay in June. My major concern was the lack of internet use. As someone who is constantly needing to check into work-- I was bummed in June when I couldn't get on the internet. This time around, though, I had no problems what-so-ever with the internet. I was able to log on--check my email and check in with my programs at work. While signing up to the duck race, I bumped into one of the owners. He approached me and asked if my internet was working OK. I was so surprised and pleased by that! If that isn't great customer service, I don't know what is! As I listed before, these are the amazing attributes for coming to camp with Whispering Pines: 1.Great price 2. Friendly staff and campers 3. Cheap and/or free activities 4. Clean campground and bathrooms 5. Pool 6. Multiple playgrounds 7. Quiet 8. Close to highway access 9. Free coffee!! 10. Arcade, ping pong, and pool 11. Soccer and basketball We will be coming back in August for another great trip! I can't thank the staff enough for making this summer the most memorable of them all for us! Cameron and Justin go above and beyond to make all campers feel comfortable and happy during their stay! You guys really rock!

I think I am spoiled with my limited RV'ing experience. I always compare to the accomodations I receive at Fishermen's Memorial State Park which leaves me wanting so so much more when checking out other local camping spots for our 30 foot home on wheels. The setting is picturesque among the tall, woody pines of southern Rhode Island. The campground is easily accessible from 95 and relatively easy to find. However, the sites - and specifically the roads leading to the sites - are lacking. We headed up here for a weekend stay. No way I would do it again. The rock/gravel/dirt roads leading to our site were nearly impossible to navigate. We asked our neighbors how they were able to get to our area and they all claimed to have had someone else get them up there with tractor-like equipment. THAT would be a site to behold...how DID they get there?? Once we got settled in, the grounds themselves were pretty quiet. We spent a weekend and enjoyed some bingo and some dance tunes over Friday and Saturday night. It is definitely family-friendly. The staff was pleasant and helpful. That being said. We got the feeling that most of the folks here camp seasonally - meaning all-season-long. There is just no way anyone would want to pull in and OUT of here for a weekend. We only had electric and water and the price was over $50. I just don't think it was worth it.

Under new ownership and they are really sprucing this place up! We did tent camp her last summer and loved it! So much we went out bought an RV and became seasonals. EVERYONE is so nice & helpful (staff & neighbors) yes roads are a little bumpy but the are repaving every week... Bathrooms are all new and activities are fun, adult and kids!

Nicer premises then last year when we stay (new owners). The good: Bathrooms are in amazing shape, they should be proud! Really impressive, even smell great! Rec hall is nicer and many of the video games actually work, though pricey. Menu and service was great. Mini golf was fun. Pool was in good shape given the weather. Cons: The wifi they sounded so proud of when my girlfriend made the reservation is worst in class, absolutely unusable. So I had to leave for 6 hours each day during the week, to use a real wifi network in town at a restaurant (was free thank goodness). We asked the seasonal campers when hanging out at the horse shoe pit and most all shook their heads and laughed saying it is useless for them too. Weekly activity schedule that they have online apparently means nothing. When we asked the pleasant older lady at the office, she said don't go by what is online. We live 200+ miles away, how else would we have planned the trip? Most campgrounds have very active facebook pages, theirs is not. Perhaps that is where the activity schedule should be? Looked nicer and the campers were very friendly, but without being able to plan activities and get work done on a computer, we won't be able to go again this season.

We just came back from whispering Pines. We liked this campground a lot. There was a lot for the kids to do and the staff was VERY friendly!! Even when booking, we had a very pleasant experience. My one suggestion to the owners would be for more speed bumps. I was surprise how fast cars travelled through the campground, especially passing by the playground across from the cabins. We look forward to returning in the future!

Had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend here! We booked last minute when our previous plans fell through. We then had trailer issues and couldn't drive in until sat morning. Needless to say it was not starting off a great vacation for us. Upon arrival we were Escorted to our site but we had a hard time backing in. The owner went and got his tractor to back our trailer in for us! Then proceeded to help us with all our hookups. This was the first sign of the exceptional service! They had left two bundles of wood and fire color packets for the kids. Everytime you passed a worker they said hi and they asked to make sure everything was ok. Clean bathrooms, tons of kids activities, lots if friendly people. We look forward to coming back next month.
